These easy Air Fryer Frozen Green Beans make a perfect side dish!

I love making green beans in the air fryer, but fresh beans aren't always available where I live, and--let's be honest-- I'm not always in the mood to do all the prep work. Thankfully you can make Frozen Green Beans in the Air Fryer! They're always in season, require less prep work, and they're just as flavorful and delicious!

In addition to the Lemon and Vegan Parmesan flavoring that you can find in my original recipe, I've developed two new flavor combos: Garlic Oregano and Sweet & Spicy Asian.

This recipe has everything I love: it's simple, quick, affordable, and delicious. I hope you love it as much as I do!

Can I use fresh green beans?

Yes! Check out my previous recipe for Air Fryer Green Beans. You can use the seasoning listed there, one of the choices below, or any of your choosing!

What type of Air Fryer should I use?

The air fryer you choose should be the one that best meets your needs for budget, capacity, and storage space. Some air fryers also have other functions like grilling and dehydrating. I ended up buying the Ninja Foodi Grill 4-in-1 because it has a large capacity to feed my family of four.

If you wanted a smaller and more economical air fryer, check out this Farberware 3.4 quart or 4.2 quart Air Fryer. For even more possibilities, take a look at this list of the Best Air Fryers of 2021.

Here's what you need to make the Sweet & Spicy Air Fryer Green Beans!

Ingredients & substitutions

  • frozen green beans: I used French (aka Haricots Verts), but other varieties or cuts are also fine.

Garlic & Oregano Seasoning

  • olive oil: if you want to make this oil-free, try aquafaba or veggie broth.
  • oregano: Italian seasoning would be a great substitute.
  • granulated garlic: I don't recommend fresh garlic, as it might burn at this high heat.
  • salt
  • fresh cracked pepper
  • vegan parmesan (optional garnish)

Sweet & Spicy Asian Seasoning

  • soy sauce: Tamari could also be used as a substitute.
  • agave or maple syrup
  • sriracha: If you like it extra spicy you can bump this up!
  • granulated garlic: I don't recommend fresh garlic, as it might burn at this high heat.
  • ginger powder
  • sesame seeds (optional garnish)

See recipe card for quantities.

Instructions

Here are step-by-step instructions with photos.

Frozen green beans in a large bowl next to a small bowl with a hand whisking seasoning.

Preheat the air fryer to 475F or 240C.

Choose one of the two seasoning options. Whisk all of your seasoning ingredients in a small bowl.

Place the frozen green beans in a larger bowl. Pour the seasoning over them and toss to combine.

Hand using tongs to transfer frozen green beans into air fryer.

Use tongs to transfer the green beans to the air fryer. *Do not discard the leftover seasoning in the bowl!*

Frozen green beans roasted in air fryer.

Air Fry the green beans for 8 to 10 minutes, or until they are lightly browned and crispy.

Air fried frozen green beans in a bowl with two hands mixing the green beans with tongs.

Return the green beans back to the same bowl and toss with the leftover seasoning. Taste to adjust seasonings.

Serve and enjoy right away!

Important: Don't dump the whole bowl of frozen green beans into the air fryer! There is a lot of extra liquid that will be lost (plus it will be harder to clean the air fryer). Instead, use tongs to transfer the green beans. Keep the bowl with the extra liquid for later. When the green beans are done you can place them back in the same bowl and toss them with the extra seasoning. This is the best way to get nicely seasoned frozen air fryer green beans!

Variations

If you want to switch things up, here are some more seasoning ideas you might like!

  • Lemon and Vegan Parmesan
  • Ranch
  • Herbs de Provence
  • Everything But the Bagel
  • Southwestern (Chili Powder, Cumin, Oregano, and Garlic)

Equipment

For this recipe, you'll need a small bowl, and mixing bowl, and an air fryer. See my notes above if you don't have one already.

All of my favorite products and kitchen tools can be found in my Amazon shop.

How to serve

Serve these quick Air Fryer Frozen Green Beans as a delicious side dish with almost any meal. The Garlic & Oregano flavoring would pair well with a Lentil Shepherd's Pie, Vegan Stuffed Shells, or Chick-fil-A Tofu Nuggets. The Sweet & Spicy would go perfectly with General Tso's Tofu or Korean Tofu.

These could also be served like an appetizer with a dip on the side. Oil-Free Aioli or Vegan Chipotle Mayo would both be great dipping options.

Storage

Store any leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 5 days. Reheat in a skillet, microwave, or air fryer.

Top tip

Be sure to save the leftover seasoning liquid to toss with the green beans after they come out of the air fryer!
